International Preparatory School(IPS) at Alcabideche (between Cascais and Sintra), is an ECIS European Council of International Schools member. IPS is a co-educational day school offering British primary education to children from three years to eleven years.

At IPS strong emphasis is placed on English and the school is a British Community Council member. The curriculum at IPS is based on the National Curriculum of England.

The school was started in 1982 with an initial 10 pupils and grew to now have about 260 children of 40 nationalities enrolled. All lessons are taught in English and IPS provides specialist teachers of Portuguese, Physical Education, Music, Art, Learning Support and English as an Additional Language. There are laptop computers in all classes and interactive whiteboards to enhance studies. A well stocked library and all weather sports and play areas complement the high quality materials and equipment.
