Unfurnished Rental Property Central Portugal

Hi There/Ola

My wife and I are Canadian/British and are fed up
with Canadian winters:) So we plan to move to
Central Portugal in late Aug/Sept 2017.

We are thinking about shipping our furniture and
belongings as most are only a couple of years old
and worth little as secondhand goods.

Could you please advise on availability of unfurnished
rental property? 2-3 bedroom, house or apartment.
Does not need to be "on the beach" but maybe a
short drive away.

Rental budget of around 450-700 euros per month.

We chose this area as we like to explore historical
places and go for walks, more importantly integrate
with the local population. We have lived all over
the world so are comfortable living as "locals"

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Hi James,

We had a visit from a Canadian/Portuguese recently
who was also wanting to escape from winter in
Canada. He was looking to buy a place and viewed
our house. He has now gone back to Canada to sell
his own house, so fingers crossed. But, to your
enquiry...

There is plenty of availability of rental property
on the Silver Coast. You should have no trouble at
all finding properties of every kind within your
budget, indeed you could find some a bit below it.

Obviously you get what you pay for, and prices will
depend on location and length of proposed rental
contract. Generally speaking the shorter the
contract the higher the rent.

Property prices and rents go hand in hand. Close to
the shops might go for more than out of town.
Although if you go out of town in the direction of
the beach, then rent and prices rise. Go out of
town in the opposite direction and prices/rent
reduces.

I don't think you could get a better location to
explore most of Portugal than the Silver Coast, and
within that area I think the Caldas da Rainha /
Obidos area has the best access to the roads in
every direction.

But before you travel the rest of Portugal there is
plenty of history locally to indulge in.

Will you visit first on an exploratory holiday, or
do you want dive in at the deep end and contact
estate agents about rental property before you
visit?

Let me know what else you need to know and I'll do
my best to answer your questions on the blog or put
you in contact with agents if you like.

If our house at:-

http://www.portugalwestcoastproperty.com/

hasn't sold by the time you visit, we might decide to go for
rental ourselves. So be sure to contact us when you visit.

all the best,
David
