A friend recommended Obidos and Foz lagoon for some horseback riding,
so we came out for very long weekend. Our 5 days were great and much
better than being stuck in our fancy Lisbon hotel.

The apartment was just fine, clean and spacious. The view of the lake
and sea is fantastic, and Dave was very helpful in suggesting where
we might rent horses for trail rides. Not big ranches, but some fine
stables locally near the lake and castle.

Dave pointed us to a restaurant where the family breeds lusitano
horses, and the food there was cooked on the fire. It was good, the
best steak I've had since arriving, almost like being back home in
Tx. The boys had black boar which is hunted here.

Sorry we are having to move on so soon, but there's a lot to see in
Europe. We learned about some horse shows where we can see more of
those lusitanos locally so my boys want to come back in the spring. I
hope I can join them and return to Portugal.

There is a lot of established property at Praia do Bom Sucesso,
mostly built around 15 years ago, which means that the location has
mostly mature gardens trees and lawns which always looks more
pleasing to the eye than the concrete jungles of newer resorts.

The Royal Obidos golf course is up and running. This makes the beach
at Praia do Bom Sucesso, (sometimes known as Foz Gronho) a
financially more interesting and definitely much prettier investment
location on the West Coast of Portugal than inland resorts like
the Bom Sucesso design resort which is few miles up the lagoon.

The Falesia d'El Rey golf course between Praia do Bom Sucesso and the
neighbouring Praia do Rei Cortico has already started the land
clearance. This means there will be two golf courses at Praia do Bom
Sucesso and within a few miles Praia D'el Rey and the Bom Sucesso
Design Resort makes four.

It's a good time to start a small bed and breakfast business on the
beach at Praia do Bom Sucesso, or invest in a flexible home with
granny flat, or investment property with income.

Take a look at Portugal West Coast Property for just such an

Hi David, We had a lovely holiday. Thank you.

The location of the apartment and area was great. It's the first
time we have visited this part of Portugal and we intend to
return.

We used the swimming pool and the tennis court quite
frequently and were surprised that no-one else appeared to
do so. Lucky for us.

The apartment is a good size and the balcony is also
spacious with a great view.

We also liked the fish restaurant on the beach side of
Sao Martinho.

Thank you for letting us stay until 5pm. That really
helped.

"Eating out was really cheap"

We spent a week with 2 teenage girls at Apartment Cristina and had a
great holiday. Not usually self catering holiday makers we actually
really enjoyed the experience.

There are plenty of restaurants and cafes really close by, and the
info pack provided lots of information on which ones to choose
depending on your food preferences, and a great taxi service if you
didn't want to drive. Eating out was really cheap, and so made it
easier.

The small town of Foz has a small supermarket for emergency supplies.
(Great home-baked bread) The major supermarket in Caldas is only a
short drive, and has everything you need.

The apartment is lovely, clean and very spacious. The beds were
really comfortable, and the bathrooms had great showers. The kitchens
was very well equipped, and had everything you needed. There was also
plenty of beach games, and equipment to use.

The highlight of the apartment is the terrace. It is a really good
size with table, chairs, sunloungers and a BBQ. The views were
spectacular over the lagoon. It really is a great sun-trap. The girls
loved the pool, which was really quiet.

The Lagoon beach in Foz is lovely, clean and calm, with plenty of
cafes, and restaurants and parking. It is also amazingly quiet, so no
fighting for space.

We loved Obidos. Quirky shops, great views, lovely food. A must do!!

We also went to Buddha Eden, and Alcobaca, both well worth a visit.
We had a lovely relaxing holiday, and will go again next year.

"We surfed every day" - "amazing waves"

We spent 3 weeks this summer (July & August) at David's apartment in
Foz. We found it to be a very spacious and clean apartment. It has
amazing views of the Obidos Lagoon from the balcony that you could
never tire of looking at.

The apartment is very well equipped with everything we needed for our
stay. There's even a cupboard in the hall that is fully stocked with
lilos, tennis rackets and balls, pool toys and boogie boards so
there's no need to have to buy these.

We had 2 teenagers with us (as well as a 9 year old) so the tennis
court on site is a real plus. You don't need to book these either so
if it's free you just go on in...

The pool is lovely and clean and well maintained and the children had
hours of great fun playing in it.

The other fantastic thing Foz has to offer are the amazing waves on
the beaches and we booked into the Fozcamp Surf School and Surf Camp
run by a guy called Martim which is located in the centre of the
village. We surfed every day of our holiday, having never tried it
before. The prices are very reasonable and you couldn't meet nicer
people in the surf school.

Generally we found Foz and the neighbouring towns to be very
reasonable to eat out and and drink compared to at home (Ireland).
There is lots to see and do and most places are not overrun with
tourists which is nice so you can get parking and nowhere is too busy
(even in July and August). I would definitely recommend Apartment
Cristina to couples or families.

perfect and the beach restaurants are open all year

As regular visitors to Portugal in the spring we've been renting
apartment Cristina at least once a year for 6 years now, as we like
it so much and there is so much to see in the area.

The apartment is lovely, nicely furnished and equipped. The location
is very tranquil, and especially so in the off-peak periods we
usually prefer. Even in the spring we enjoy our breakfast on the
terrace, with such a magnificent view.

The terrace is south facing overlooking the garden and gets the sun
all day long. The lagoon is so close that you could almost throw a
stone to it, and the gorgeous beaches at Foz are only a little
further. We find the lagoon beach perfect for swimming as you get the
calmer waters. But if you prefer big rollers the atlantic beach is
for you.

Unlike many resorts the beach restaurants are open all year round and
don't close for the winter. The fishing village of Foz do Arelho is
very quiet, but it has a post office, supermarket and bank, and most
important the property management office where we've always found
Andreia to be so helpful.

It's about 10 minutes drive to Caldas da Rainha, a market town with
major hypermarkets, and lovely open fruit market, and a traditional
fish market.

We recommend the apartment for mature couples, young romantic
couples, and small families (up to 6 persons).
